Metropolitan Bridal Expo
Sunday, August 29, 2010
625 Saint Louis Street, Springfield, MO
Open 11am to 4 pm

Pre-register Online at MetBride.com to be entered to win a photo-booth from Affinity Ballroom. Attending brides will also be entered to win a Wedding Gown from Ella Weiss Wedding Design. See you there!

Can't make it this weekend?? That's ok. Here's another great way to meet some vendors. One of my favorite events: THE BRIDAL CRAWL!

The Bridal Crawl is a 5-hour long event where brides can visit 4 different venues, all set-up reception-style so that you can actually see all of the possibilities! Vendors will be at each location and you can find me at the 910 Ballroom at the Executive Conference Center - 910 W. Battlefield.

Other locations include:
The Diamond Room - 2340 W. Grand
Ms. Gilmore's Carraige House - 305 E. 847 S. Scenic Ave.
The Grand Ballroom - 305 E. Walnut St.

I am really excited about my location at the 910 Ballroom. Why? There will be a fashion show every hour, there will be a live band, there will be awesome food, and plenty of one-on-one time with brides! This event is less fast-paced than a bridal show so brides and vendors can go over all of the bride's ideas and the bride can get great insight from local pros! Here are the details:

Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010
Open 12-5 pm
COMPLETELY FREE - No admission cost

Let me know if you'd like a map, because I have plenty! Can't wait to see everyone at one of these great events!

Until next time...have an enchanted day!

Hooray for Honeymoons!

Oh the honeymoon- probably the most enjoyable part of the wedding madness. This is the time when you can look at one another and say, "We are finally here!" No crazy relatives, no toasts to write, and no more schedules!

You may be wondering something: if I am a wedding planner, why in the world am I going on about the wonderful time you will have AFTER the wedding?? Because I found Sandals! Well, actually, Sandals found me and I am so glad. Let me tell you why I am so excited about this:

I have been on the "All-Inclusive Vacation" that promises the world and doesn't really deliver. You know the ones I mean...you can only eat at 1 out of the 8 restaurants at the resort, you end up having to pay for an inner tube to float in the ocean, and although "drinks are included" that seldom means alcoholic drinks. Solution: book with Sandals.

They have a few different branches of their company. The two that I think will be most popular for my clients are Sandals Resorts for couples only and Beaches Resorts for families. They work with you to arrange airfare if you need help finding a good deal. They also call themselves "Luxury Included Resorts". This is the key:

They include your stay, all of your food, beverages (alcoholic and non), all gratuities, taxes, golf, tennis, all water sports (from scuba-diving, to kayaking, to waterskiing...). When comparing the Sandals resorts to another resort in Maui, HI the price difference was crazy! Because the luxury is included, a week at a Sandals resort would cost a couple around $4100. A week at a non-Sandals resort: $9276. I am sold.

They have beautiful properties in Jamaica, Antigua, the Bahamas, and the Hawaii of the Caribbean: St. Lucia. This is a great escape for honeymooners, family reunions, corporate retreats. They have got you covered!

Glass Slipper has partnered up with Sandals because they have so much to offer for weddings! They have pre-made wedding designs for those who want a destination wedding. From floral and feminine to natural and chic, they have a bunch of choices to fit every bride's style. And here is something really unique: The BFF Girls Getaway.

Imagine spending your bachelorette party or bridal shower on the beaches of Jamaica dancing the night away, then lying in a hammock all day after that. Many brides find that their bridesmaids and girlfriends are spread out and often have to travel to celebrate. Why not travel somewhere incredible?!

I have a ton of information to share about the great Sandals deals and I would love to talk to you about it at the MetBride Show this weekend! The show is on Sunday from 11-4 at the Expo Center. More about the show coming soon!

Uppercase Living!

If you are a bride, you may be looking for decoration or favor ideas that haven't been overdone. If you are not a bride, you may want a little something to spruce up your home that doesn't cost a fortune, but leaves an impression!

Let me tell you how great Uppercase Living is! Imagine a phrase, picture, symbols, monogram, something beautiful. Now imagine it on you wall, in any font, any color. Uppercase Living is vinyl stick-on decor that you can use just about anywhere. Then, at the end of your event (or when you move to a new home) you can peel it off without damaging the surface or the paint!

If you are trying to plan a wedding or event consider these ideas: dance floor monograms, centerpieces, mirror art, car decoration, party favors, children's games (stick the tail on the giraffe...), and on and on...

What about your business? Maybe you sell dresses, shoes, candy, or toys. Maybe you own a salon or a cafe. Uppercase Living is a great way to make your store or lobby unique and welcoming.

The same concept applies to your home! You can personalize your walls with your family name, blown-up pictures of your kids (or your pet), even labels for your cabinets or your pantry.

There are so many incredible ways to use Uppercase Living vinyl expressions. There are hundreds of pre-made sayings and embellishments to look at, or you can create your own in their "My Design Suite". This is a very fun addition to Glass Slipper. If you want to take a look at a catalog or throw a party, give me a call!

Just to give you a little taste of the awesomeness...

The First of Many

As a wedding planner, there is always so much that I want to share with those around me. Whether it be my vendors, my brides, or random strangers I happen to meet. This is my very first blog entry and I want to start things off right by explaining what Glass Slipper is! There is so much information I want to share with you- the internet blogging world, but I must slow down and not give everything away the first day. So I plan to break down what Glass Slipper is all about over the next few weeks and also provide plenty of tips for getting around in the wedding and event industry!

Glass Slipper Weddings and Events is a full-service wedding planning company. That means that I am there for as much of the planning process as you would like. Yes, I will come with you if you need help picking a dress (even if you want to visit 6 different shops). Yes, I will call your great-aunt Polly who didn't RSVP, I know she will keep you on the phone for an hour. Yes, I will pick up you tuxes in time for your guys to make sure everything fits... and yes, I will take them back sopping wet after your bridal party jumps into the pool. :) I am here to make your day easier!

I can help you manage your budget, deal with vendor contracts, and give you etiquette advice. I can also be there just for the "Wedding Weekend" if that's what you want! My packages and services are built around each individual client.

Glass Slipper also would love to organize your corporate event, your baby shower, your Sweet 16...Whatever you even may be, I'd be happy to help!

You may wonder: what makes you qualified to handle my wedding or event? I did a lot of research when I was just getting started in the industry and I found the Association of Bridal Consultants. Although I had done large special events prior to entering the wedding world, there was so much I still had to learn. ABC is the oldest, most prestigious group of wedding planners out there. They provided me with very in-depth education and are always making sure their consultants have the knowledge and tools to be the best of the best.

I can't wait to tell you more about the various facets of Glass Slipper Weddings and Events. Stay tuned for more details and "extras" along the way. Feel free to leave your questions anytime!

Until next time...have an enchanted day!
